The 12th Tasveer South Asian Film Festival (TSAFF) will be a 11-day festival of thought-provoking meaningful films & forums on South Asia and South Asians worldwide. Our hope is to engage viewers in open dialogue about issues relevant to us, including human right and social/political/economic injustice. The focus of this year is Nepal and #WeBelong

Produced by Tasveer, TSAFF is the largest South Asian Film Festival in the country with over 3000 attendees, 50 films, and 5 cities.

Tasveer invites submission of film and video works on subjects related to South Asia and its Diaspora. Short films, experimental films, documentaries, and narratives of any length will be accepted in any digital formats. The 10-day film festival will foster an atmosphere of creative inquiry, filmmakers and audiences will engage in lively discussions, forums, and other collaborative interactive formats. South Asia includes: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tibet and its various Diasporas across the world…

This year, we captured the movements and the moments of South Asian vitality, alive in Desh or Pardesh. We witness as South Asians struggle in the streets of New York, as they fall in love in Prague, as they search for peace in Sri Lanka, and they forget friendship in South Africa.

Personal is Political: South Asian Lens on Vibrant Love
5th ISAFF was about creating a safe, courageous and outspoken space for all types of people to come together and talk about the personal and the political. We put together a critical panel on gender and sexuality called “Queering Bollywood” with Pratibha Parmar. We were proud to present the first South Asian LGBTQ themed South Asian Film Festival in the nation!
