We are celebrating 15 years of serving the community. Will you support us by joining our table?
We founded Tasveer post 9/11, to bring stories of underrepresented South Asians to the forefront, to provide a safe space platform for South Asians to voice their concerns, and to help dispel stereotypes in the mainstream media.
Our objective is to inspire social change by engaging the audience through various thought-provoking programs year-round such as community forums, storytelling, workshops, panel discussions, and powerful tools such as film. Tasveer is the only organization in the country that has been serving South Asian women tirelessly for last 12 years, working to remove the taboo from being a victim of sexual abuse and to empower women through programs like Yoni Ki Baat and Community Speaks. We were the first ones organize an areal peace vigil against hate crimes in Kansas City and Kent to honor the victims.
Your support will enable us to invest in our staff, strengthen our existing programs, and start new ones. Thank you!
Our main events are:
– Tasveer South Asian Film Festival
– Aaina: South Asian Women’s Focus
– South Asian International Documentary Festival
– Tasveer Reels: Monthly screens at Bellevue Arts Museum
– Filmmaking workshop
We look forward to celebrating the ending of this year and the beginning of new one.
