Tasveer formally announces the dates for Independent South Asian Film Festival

Seattle’s 6th Independent South Asian film festival (ISAFF) is now accepting entries for films on subjects related to South Asia and/or its Diaspora. Along with the best selected South Asian films, the three-day film festival will foster an atmosphere of lively discussions, forums, and other collaborative interactive formats.

Evening will include opening performance by band Anjuman: Indian/Afro-Cuban Ensemble with a guest dancer Archana Kumar, short film Manoj, stand up comedy of Hari Kondabolu followed by refreshments! According to the Seattle Times, Hari Kondabolu is "a young man reaching for the hand-scalding torch of confrontational comics like Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor." Like his comedic heroes, he wants to speak truth to power with confrontational and personal material. Hari has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Comedy Central's Live at Gotham and was featured in the 2007 HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. CRY America Seattle Action Center & Tasveer present “My Vision and Dream for Children”
 IIlliteracy, child labor, malnutrition, preventable diseases, gender discrimination and child abuse are injustices faced by millions of children on a daily basis. But not for long, we hope... because no matter how difficult the journey, if each of us believes in doing what’s right, all children will have their right to live, learn, grow and play. CRY America believes in a just world in which all children - regardless of gender, class, caste, faith, color, race, physical and mental ability etc. - have an equal opportunity to develop to their full potential and realize their dreams.
Participate in CRY America‘s ‘My Vision and Dream for Children’ campaign – tell us what you believe. What is your vision/dream for children? Maximum Duration: 10 mins. Criteria the films will be judged on include: Originality, Concept/ design (how it relates to the theme of the contest), Innovativeness/ creativity and clarity of theme
