We are celebrating the SIXTH Independent South Asian Film Festival in Seattle, a city that has openly embraced all cultures, ethnicities, sexual preferences and communities. Independent South Asian Film Festival (ISAFF) will reflect this pluralism and multiculturalism through the various films that will be showcased in it.

MOVIE HIGHLIGHTS

Living GhostTHE LIVING GHOST & Closing Night Gala
From the Indian State of Orissa, comes the beautifully-woven story of the impact of commercialism on the delicate lifestyle of a tribe called Dongria Kandha ( The Living Ghost). It will be shown on closing night with special guests Director Prashanta Nanda and Producer Akshay Parija. FREE Closing Night Reception with Chateau St. Michelle wine with cheese, samosa, chai.

Nepali Short FilmsNEPALI SHORT FILM PROGRAM
Three short films representing Nepal, recently shown at CANNES FILM FESTIVAL, include AWAKEN EYES, a sweet, romantic film on a newly-wed couple. WHERE IS THE STORY?; CHAUKAITH: THRESHOLD, the journey of a woman who is searching for her identity; and a short made by a local filmmaker Len Davis, TEA TIME IN SIRUTAR, the story of a tea ritual followed by men around Kathmandu.

Project KashmirPROJECT KASHMIR
Another highlight of the festival is the movie, Project Kashmir. The film is shot by Academy Award winner Ross Kauffman and reveals the personal stories of Kashmiris with those of the two American women (Dir. Senain Keshagi and Geeta Patel), who come from the opposite sides of the divide. Senain will be present for a post-movie discussion.

It's time to sit back and take one last dip in the sweet sounding waters of Bolly tunes with DJ Anshul and DJ RDX, who definitely know how to drum up a music storm when it's getting a little too dull and boring. So keep your date with us and join us to groove one more time to some hip-hurting,back-crunching Desi tunes :) The benefits from the night will go to help ISAFF 2009 and your presence is requested.
