DAY TWO - Saturday, October 3rd at ISAFF

Apart from a series of shorts put together by CRY on children's rights and privileges, the two films that featured in the morning session were Theke pe kya karte ho and The Otherside of Childhood. While the former was a simple commentary on how child labour becomes an accepted aspect in the fabric of life, the latter was a gut-wrenching, powerful rendition of child sexual abuse in Pakistan.
The Other Side of Childhood - A heart-rending documentary on child sexual exploitation. A dark and dangerous world that could only be portrayed by the maker through animation
The afternoon session brought with it Asha goes to India followed by six experimental shorts. What is the nature of an experimental short? Is it meant to inspire? Is it meant to cater to the core human psyche?
Asha goes to India - The journey of an American woman to explore the myths and mysteries of India. How much of it is true? How much of it can be truly experienced?

Project Kashmir. This powerfully shot movie on a volatile and controversial subject such as Kashmir, evoked strong passions and debates in the Q&A session. Great to see such ardent enthusiasm amongst the Seattle movie goers!!
An excellent look at Kashmir after decades of divide. A conflict of religion, class and ultimately politics. A must see!!!?

Co-Director of Project Kashmir, Senain Kheshgi
I Can't Think Straight. The evening wound down with a light-hearted film about a not so light-hearted theme in many cultures - same sex love. The hall was crammed all the way to the seats in front.
I can't think straight - A casual comedy about same sex love with some seasoning of race and religion conflicts.
Sunday is the final day of the Festival. Don't miss our exciting line up!!
- Joyce and Siamak Poursabahian
