Your support matters
“Tasveer isn’t just a program. It’s a family. A place that tells you that your goals aren’t too big, your dreams aren’t unrealistic, and your talent is more than enough. It’s a space that insists you can be the change in this industry, and then hands you the tools, the community, and the courage to do it.”
-Alison Almeida, Producer
For over 20 years, Tasveer has proudly celebrated the nuances of underrepresented and misrepresented identities, including immigrants, LGBTQIA+ communities, women, religious minorities, lower-caste individuals, youth, and more, through films, art, and storytelling.
Together, we’ve created programs and spaces that are transforming South Asian storytelling, including:
- Tasveer Film Festival — the largest South Asian film festival in the U.S., and the only Oscar-qualifying South Asian film festival in the world.
- Tasveer Film Center — Tasveer’s own theater and cultural home in Columbia City, making us the first movie theater in the US owned by a South Asian arts organization.
- Tasveer Film Fund (in partnership with Netflix) — over $250,000 awarded to emerging South Asian filmmakers since launch.
- Film Market & Producers Lab — a first-of-its-kind platform supporting scripts, pitches, $185,000 in filmmaker grants, and opportunities for South Asian creators.
- Youth & Community Programming — dozens of workshops, filmmaker meetups, community screenings, and live storytelling performances, like DesiQueer speaks
Your support has been vital to our mission. Let’s continue to make an impact together.
