Jashin: A Celebration of Afghan Arts

Seattle Opera, in Partnership with Tasveer, presents Jashin: A Celebration of Afghan Arts , a cultural festival highlighting the remarkable achievements of Afghan artists. Afghan cultural consultant Humaira Ghilzai will be the host for the day that will include presentations from all of the artists as well as poetry readings. Events include:

  1. Concert by world-renowned rubab player Homayoun Sakhi,
  2. An exhibition of rescued artworks by the artist-activist group ArtLords,
  3. Unveiling of an embroidery project created by local Afghan women in partnership with Refugee Artisan Initiative, and
  4. A presentation by film director and A Thousand Splendid Suns stage director, Roya Sadat. Tasveer Executive Director, Rita Meher will conduct the post-presentation Q&A.
  5. Screening of documentary film Symphony of Courage

The event will also feature opportunities to support local Afghan artists and refugees through financial and supply donations.

This is a free event.
