TasveerTV: Bringing Forth Stories That Matter
Our mission is to amplify unique perspectives and narratives from the South Asian community through storytelling to raise awareness about the diversity of cultures, identities, and experiences encompassed by the label “South Asian.” For over 21 years, Tasveer has worked to create a safe and creative space for South-Asian artists, filmmakers, and activists from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Tibet, Sri Lanka, and their diasporas worldwide to showcase their stories in Seattle and beyond.
Tasveer was born out of the need to combat systemic racism against South Asians, and has always authentically pushed forward gender equality, religious tolerance, queer representation, and fights for equality. During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tasveer extended its efforts by launching TasveerTV, a platform where filmmakers can host their films and audiences can enjoy year-round access.
