The campaign will run April 19 – May 4, with a special 48 hour giving marathon on May 3 – 4.
Tasveer aims to raise $5,000 to support our long-awaited return to live events with the upcoming Community Speaks, a powerful South Asian storytelling program addressing issues such as suicide awareness, LGBTQIA+ rights, immigrant experiences, and more.
When you support Tasveer during GiveBIG Washington, your contributions will make possible our impactful return to in-person events in 2022! Community Speaks, a powerful South Asian storytelling event held at Benaroya Hall on May 7th, will shed light on the special challenges and opportunities experienced within the South Asian socio-cultural context, whether in native lands or in adopted homelands.
These vivid, bold, heartwarming and poignant monologues are captivating in their intensity, and their raw messages questioning societal norms, judgments and prejudices. This impactful storytelling program will honor both Mental Health Awareness Month and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with personal stories performed by South Asian community members.
Tasveer needs art lovers and social justice advocates like YOU to fund programs like Community Speaks, as we grow our grassroots programming in spite of the challenges posed to arts organizations by the pandemic. Please consider donating $20/ month in honor of Tasveer’s 20th Anniversary!
