This talk will focus on the growth and development of Indian cinema, which, with over 1,000 films produced a year, shapes Indian culture, ideology, tradition, and modernity. Excerpts from the golden classics, socials and melodrama, art cinema, mythological, devotional films, nationalist cinema, romance, Indian Westerns, masala films, song and dance, NRI and hatke cinemas, will take us down the memory lane of Indian cinema starting from the early 20th century’s silent to the present-day Indie cinema.
