This film screening was held to raise relief funds for the devastating Tsunami that hit parts of South Asia, South East Asia and Africa.
Set inside a village of Andhra Pradesh, the story’s hero is Kanakayya, a young boy suddenly stricken with a peculiar illness. Local shaman, Gopayya, diagnoses the boy’s affliction as Doshagunam, a potentially fatal disease with controversial causes. The situation arouses suspicion about the virtue of Saradamba, a high-caste village lady and a benefactor of Kanakayya.
